Originally from Minnesota, Eric Whorton aka. Gearmanndude was raised on 70's Country Music and AM Radio soft rock, but was eventually drawn to the six string by Eddie Van Halen, and the allure of 80's hair bands.
Eric spent his high school years playing professionally on the northern Minnesota and Wisconsin club circuit.
The bright lights called to him and he headed for Nashville at age 18 and spent 6 years touring the United States, France, Germany, England, and The Netherlands in a number of acts, as well as becoming a regular fixture in the Nashville club and studio scene.
Nashville put him on stages with The Ramones, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Los Lobos, Jimmy Buffett, Colonel Bruce Hampton, Blues Traveler, Dave Matthews, KoKo Taylor, and countless acts on the Blues Festival Circuit.
Nashville eventually loosened its grip on Eric, and he relocated to Louisville, Kentucky, to form the whiskey-tinged southern rock band EL ROOSTARS with friends met along the Music City journey.
EL ROOSTARS shared the stage with a who's who of national acts over a 13 year time-period, including: Kings of Leon, Shooter Jennings, Kid Rock, Steppenwolf, Dan Baird, Billy Burnette, Molly Hatchett, Joe Ely, Savoy Brown, Todd Snyder and more,
Most recently, Eric has assembled a number of local tribute acts such as The Uncle Alberts (Paul McCartney/Wings tribute), Vinylicious (multiple tributes), The Tributantes (multiple tributes), and Exile on Elm Street (Rolling Stones Tribute), which eventually landed him the guitar slot in The Bobby Keys Band, (40+ year member of The Rolling Stones, most famous for the sax solo on 'Brown Sugar').
2015 was his first year as a member of The Barnstable/Brown Kentucky Derby band, where he shares the stage annually with Richie Sambora, Orianthi, Travis Tritt, Kix Brooks, Montgomery Gentry, Kid Rock, Sammy Hagar, Terri Clark, and other celebrities that attend the Derby event.
He's in the Barnstable band along with Bob Ramsey and Kimmet Cantwell, which landed him in FROM PARIS, where he now channels the energy and influences of 30+ years of following his guitar wherever it leads him.
