About Paul Frazier
Paul Frazier is the kind of bassist that can play anything, as his list of collaborations will make abundantly clear, he takes on any kind of music with alacrity.
Paul Frazier started playing piano when he was five years old. He branched out to the trombone and the drums while still in school, before finally settling on the bass, which has been his constant companion since he picked up the first one when he was around 10 years old.
The list of people that Paul has played with is frankly breathtaking: He’s worked with Sharon Corr (The Corrs), Arrested Development, Michael Tolcher, Lucy Woodward, Idina Menzel of Frozen fame, Grace Weber, Shawn Colvin, St. Vincent, Chaka Khan, Joss Stone, Cab and Chris Calloway among many others. He has done live shows and tours with such legends as Sara McLachlan, Bonnie Raitt, Natalie Merchant on the Lilith Fair with Imani Coppola, The Weather Girls, Renee Fleming, Arcade Fire, Norah Jones, Crosby, Stills and Nash and more. As that rather long list of musicians should make clear, Paul Frazier brings his A game to all types of music.
Despite his many accomplishments he is probably most known for his work with David Byrne of the Talking Heads. Who he has worked with for years. The collaboration has worked out well. Frazier appreciates Byrne’s willingness to try new things: ”David Byrne is someone who I admire very much and there is a lot that we have in common. He’s just constantly reinventing himself, not because he wants to be trendy. He's just interested in constantly learning and expanding.”
The versatility of Paul's TC rig allows him to move between music genres and playing styles with absolute certainty, knowing everything will come through with the power and clarity he needs.
